Chapter 20 · Verse 1771
Å त्वा रथं यथोतये सुम्नाय वर्त्तयामसि. तुविक्ञुर्मिम् ऋतीषहमिन्द्रं शविष्ंह सत्पतिम्
Tuvikμurmim æt∂¶ahamindra≈ ‹avi¶¢ha satpatim. Indra, bravest of the brave, protector of the good and true, just as we turn the chariot, so do we draw your attention and pray you turn to us and come for our protection, welfare and enlightenment, lord of infinite action and conqueror of enemies.
हे इन्द्र, हम रथ को जैसे चलाते हैं, वैसे ही हम आपकी ओर आते हैं, कल्याण और ज्ञान के लिए।
Chapter 20 · Verse 1772
तुविशुष्म तुविक्रतो शचीवो विश्वया मते. Å पप्राथ महित्वना
Å papråtha mahitvanå. Lord omnipotent of infinite action, infinitely helpful, omniscient, with your cosmic power and grandeur you pervade the whole universe.
हे सर्वशक्तिमान, अनंत कर्म वाले, अत्यंत सहायक और सर्वज्ञ प्रभु, आप अपनी असीम शक्ति और महिमा से संपूर्ण ब्रह्मांड में व्याप्त हैं।
Chapter 20 · Verse 1773
यस्य ते महिना महः परि ज्मायन्तम् ईयतुः. हस्ता वज्रं हिरण्ययम्
Indra who are infinitely great by virtue of your omnipotence, your hands wield the thunderbolt of justice and golden grace which reaches everywhere over the universe.
हे सर्वशक्तिमान इंद्र, आपकी महानता से युक्त आपके हाथ न्याय के वज्र और सर्वव्यापी स्वर्णिम कृपा को धारण करते हैं।
Chapter 20 · Verse 1775
अभि द्विजन्मा त्री रोचनानि विश्वा रजाँन्सि शुशु- चानो अस्थात्. होता यजिष्ंहो अपां सधस्थे
Twice born and born of two, akasha and vayu, manifesting in universal nature and in every distinct form of nature, illuminating three lights, fire of the earth, lightning of the skies and lights of heaven, vitalising all the worlds of the universe, Agni abides all round everywhere. Worthiest universal yajaka, holding the worlds unto itself, it abides coexistent with the universal liquid energy of the cosmos.
हे अग्निदेव, आप दो बार जन्म लेने वाले हैं, प्रकाशमान हैं, और समस्त लोकों में व्याप्त हैं, जो यज्ञ के योग्य हैं।
Chapter 20 · Verse 1776
अयं स होता यो द्विजन्मा विश्वा दधे वार्याणि श्रवस्या. मर्त्तो यो अस्मै सुतुको ददाश
Such is this Agni, creative lord of cosmic yajna, wielder of the worlds, born of two and twice born, who holds the choicest foods, energies and honours of the universe. And the man who, self-sacrificing, twice born of natural mother and mother Sarasvati, blest with the richest gifts of food, energy and honour, with a noble family gives in homage and surrender to this Agni, he is the real man.
यह अग्नि ही वह होता है जो दो बार जन्म लेता है और सभी श्रेष्ठ वस्तुएँ धारण करता है।
Chapter 20 · Verse 1777
अग्ने तम् अद्याश्वं न स्तोमैः कृतुं न भद्रं हृदिस्पृशम्. ःर्ध्यामा त ओहैः
Agni, mighty power of light and motion, with songs of praise and prayer and with holy acts of service offered in homage to you today, we augment, celebrate and glorify you, fast as nature's waves of energy, bright as intelligence and blissful as yajna, and dear as love closest to the heart.
हे अग्निदेव, आज हम स्तुतियों और पवित्र कर्मों द्वारा आपकी महिमा बढ़ाते हैं, जो हृदय को प्रिय और आनंददायक हैं।
Chapter 20 · Verse 1778
अधा ह्यग्ने क्रतोर् भद्रस्य दक्षस्य साधोः. रथीर् ऋतस्य बृहतो बभ्ञुथ
And now Agni, O light and ruler of the world, be the rider and commander of the chariot of the plan and programme of our creative and developmental yajna of the human nation, a yajna which is blissfully fruitful, expertly organised and sophisticated, truthfully in consonance with the laws of nature and the environment and positively good, great and far reaching in consequence for life.
हे अग्निदेव, आप हमारे यज्ञ के सारथी बनकर, कल्याणकारी शक्ति और महान योजना के रथ को सुचारू रूप से चलाएं।
Chapter 20 · Verse 1779
एभिर् नो अर्कैर् भवा नो अर्वाΔक् स्वाýर्ण ज्योतिः. अग्ने विश्वेभिः सुमना अनीकैः
Agni, light and life of the world, majestic as the sun's refulgent glory, good and loving at heart, in response to these our songs of praise and prayer and acts of piety, come straight and bless us with all your forces of protection and promotion and give us, lead us to, the success of our heart's desire.
हे अग्निदेव, इन स्तुतियों से प्रसन्न होकर, अपनी समस्त शक्तियों के साथ, हमें प्रकाश और सफलता प्रदान करें।
Chapter 20 · Verse 1780
अग्ने विवस्वद् उषसश् चित्रं राधो अमर्त्य. Å दाशुषे जातवेदो वहा त्वम् अद्या देवाँन् उषर्बुधः
Å då‹u¶e jåtavedo vahå tvam adyå devå~n u¶arbudha¨. Agni, lord of life, blazing as the sun, immortal, omniscient of things born, for the man of charity who has surrendered himself to you, you bring today wonderful wealth of the dawn, and let the yogis and blessings of nature awake at the dawn.
हे अग्निदेव, आप प्रकाशमान, अमर और सर्वज्ञ हैं, आज आप भक्त के लिए अद्भुत धन लाएं और देवताओं को जागृत करें।
Chapter 20 · Verse 1781
जुष्ंओ हि द्ञुतो असि हव्य-वाहनोइ᳓ग्ने रथीर् अध्वराणाम्. सज्ञुर् अश्विभ्याम् उषसा सुवीर्यम् अस्मे धेहि श्रवो बृहत्
Agni, ruling lord of light and the world, invoked and lighted, you are the blazing catalyst and carrier of yajnic materials offered and fragrances received. You are the leading chariot hero of the world's yajnic acts of love and creation. Friend of the Ashvins, sun and moon, water and air, working with the complementary powers of nature, friend and companion of ours too, bring us noble strength and valour, bless us with universal honour and fame.
हे अग्निदेव, आप यज्ञ के वाहन और रथ के स्वामी हैं, अश्विनीकुमारों के मित्र हैं, हमें महान यश और बल प्रदान करें।
Chapter 20 · Verse 1782
विधुं दद्राणं समने बह्ञुनां युवानं सन्तं पलितो जगार. देवस्य पश्य काव्यं महित्वाद्या ममार स ह्यः समान
Old age consumes even the youthful man of versatile action whom many fear to face in battle and flee. Look at the inscrutable power of the lord divine by whose inevitable law of mutability the man who was living yesterday is dead today, and the one that dies today would be living to tomorrow.
काल की शक्ति को देखो, जो बलवान और अनेक भयभीत करने वाले युवा को भी निगल जाती है; उसी ईश्वर की महिमा को समझो, जिसके विधान से आज जीवित व्यक्ति कल मृत हो जाता है।
Chapter 20 · Verse 1784
ऐभिर्ददे वृष्ण्या पौँन्स्यानि येभिर् औक्षद् वृत्रहत्याय वज्री. ये कर्मणः क्रियमाणस्य मह्न ऋते कर्मम् उद् अजायन्त देवाः
With these potent and positive waves of natural energy, the virile Indra, wielder of thunderbolt, assumes those powers for breaking the clouds of darkness and want by which he brings about the showers of rain for the world of existence, which powers too for bringing about the showers of positive action and creativity arise from the grandeur of the omnipotent original doer of cosmic karma.
इन शक्तिशाली ऊर्जा तरंगों से, वज्रधारी इंद्र, अंधकार और अभाव के मेघों को भेदने की शक्ति प्राप्त करते हैं, जिनसे वे संसार के लिए वर्षा का संचार करते हैं।

अस्ति सोमो अयं सुतः पिबन्त्यस्य मरुतः. उत स्वराजो अश्विना
Uta svaråjo a‹vinå. O Maruts, mighty men of honour and action, this soma of glorious life is ready, created by divinity. Lovers of life and adventure, Ashwins, live it and enjoy, those who are self-refulgent, free and self-governed, and who are ever on the move, creating, acquiring, giving, like energies of nature in the cosmic circuit.
हे मरुतों, यह सोम रस तैयार है, जिसे तुम पीते हो।
Chapter 20 · Verse 1786
पिबन्ति मित्रो अर्यमा तना प्ञुतस्य वरुणः. त्रिषधस्थस्य जावतः
Tri¶adhasthasya jåvata¨. Mitra, men of universal love, Aryama, men of adventure on the paths of rectitude, and Varuna, men of judgement and right choice, continuously drink of this soma created and sanctified by the procreative power of divinity pervading in the three regions of the universe, heaven, earth and the sky.
मित्र, आर्यमा और वरुण, त्रिलोकव्यापी दिव्य शक्ति से उत्पन्न सोम का निरंतर पान करते हैं।
Chapter 20 · Verse 1787
उतो न्वस्य जोषमा इन्द्रः सुतस्य गोमतः. प्रातर्होतेव मत्सति
Pråtarhoteva matsati. And surely the delight and exhilaration of this soma, Indra, the soul, inspirited with the power of brilliance and awareness, like a yajaka at dawn, experiences, and celebrates the ecstasy in dance and song.
हे इन्द्र, इस सोम रस का आनंद और उल्लास, भोर के यज्ञकर्ता की भांति, आत्मा को दीप्ति और चेतना से प्रेरित कर, उत्सव मनाता है।

बण्महाँन् असि स्ञुर्य बड् आदित्य महाँन् असि. महस्ते सतो महिमा पनिष्ंअम मह्ना देव महाँन् असि
Mahaste sato mahimå pani¶¢ama mahnå deva mahå~n asi. O Surya, light of life, you are truly great, lord indestructible, you are undoubtedly great. O lord of reality, highest real, great is your glory, most adorable. In truth, you are gre own grandeur at by your, refulgent and generous.
हे सूर्य, हे आदित्य, आप महान हैं।
Chapter 20 · Verse 1789
बं स्ञुर्य श्रवसा महाँन् असि सत्रा देव महाँन् असि. मह्ना देवानाम् असुर्यः पुरोहितो विभु ज्योतिर् अदाभ्यम्
O Surya, lord self-refulgent, by honour and fame you are great. In truth, you are great, generous lord, by your grandeur among the divinities. Lord of pranic energy, destroyer of the evil, prime high priest of creation in cosmic dynamics, omnipresent and infinite, light unsurpassable, eternal.
हे सूर्य देव, आप महान हैं, सत्य में आप महान हैं। आप देवताओं के महान असुर्य (शक्तिशाली) पुरोहित, सर्वव्यापी, प्रकाशमान और अजेय हैं।
Chapter 20 · Verse 1790
उप नो हरिभिः सुतं याहि मदानां पते. उप नो हरिभिः सुतम्
Upa no haribhi¨ sutam. O lord and protector of the joys of life, come to us to taste the soma of life prepared by us with our mind, imagination and senses in your honour, come to us for the soma distilled by our heart and mind for you.
हे आनंद के स्वामी, अपने मन और इंद्रियों से आपके लिए तैयार किए गए सोम रस का आस्वादन करने हेतु हमारे पास पधारें।
Chapter 20 · Verse 1791
द्विता यो वृत्रहन्तमो विद इन्द्रः शतक्रतुः. उप नो हरिभिः सुतम्
Upa no haribhi¨ sutam. Indra, hero of a hundred noble actions, greatest destroyer of darkness who know both the way of knowledge and the way of karma for the good life, come to taste our soma of homage prepared by us with our heart and soul for you.
हे इन्द्र, हे शतक्रतो, हे वृत्रहन्तम, हमारे द्वारा प्रस्तुत सोम का पान करने के लिए अपने अश्वों के साथ पधारें।
Chapter 20 · Verse 1792
त्वम् हि वृत्रहन्न् एषां पाता सोमानाम् असि. उप नो हरिभिः सुतम्
Upa no haribhi¨ sutam. Indra, O soul, dispeller of darkness and ignorance, you are the experiencer of the joyous soma pleasures of life. Rise and enjoy the knowledge and wisdom collected and offered by the senses, mind and intelligence.
हे इन्द्र, हे अज्ञान के नाशक, तुम ही जीवन के सोम-आनन्द का अनुभव करने वाले हो।
Chapter 20 · Verse 1793
प्र वो महे महेवृधे भरध्वं प्रचे- तसे प्र सुमतिं कृणुध्वम्. विशः प्ञुर्वीः प्र चर चर्षनि प्राः
Bear and bring homage, assistance and cooperation and offer positive thoughts and advice to Indra, your leader and ruler. Great is he, promoter of great people and the common wealth, and a leader wide- awake with deep and distant foresight. O leader and ruler of the land, be good to the settled ancient people and take care of the farming communities and other professionals so that all feel happy and fulfilled without frustration.
हे महान् नेता, हम आपके लिए महान् भेंट लाते हैं, आपकी स्तुति करते हैं और आपकी कृपा चाहते हैं। हे भूमि के शासक, आप हमारे पूर्वजों के महान् रक्षक हैं।
Chapter 20 · Verse 1794
उरुव्यचसे महिने सुवृक्तिम् इन्द्राय ब्रह्म जनयन्त विप्राः. तस्य व्रतानि न मिनन्ति धीराः
To the great Indra, the ruler widely perceptive and all aware, vibrant people of the land, the learned and the wise with a sense of dynamism, all offer homage, rooting out dead wood, planting new saplings, generating new forms of sustenance and energy, and creating new forms of appreciating and realising the eternal spirit. And they, people of constancy and settled mind, never violate the laws and discipline of the lord's Eternal Law.
हे इन्द्र, जो सर्वव्यापी और महान हैं, विद्वान पुरुष उनकी स्तुति करते हैं और उनके व्रतों का उल्लंघन नहीं करते।
Chapter 20 · Verse 1795
इन्द्रं वाणीर् अनुत्तमन्युम् एव सत्रा राजानं दधिरे सहध्यै. हर्यश्वाय बर्हया समापीन्
All voices of the people, all sessions of yajnic programmes of action, uphold and support only the brilliant ruler, Indra of constant vision and passion, in order to maintain the social order of governance without obstruction. O friends and citizens of the land, exhort your people in support of Indra, leader of the dynamic nation of humanity.
हे मित्रों, हम सब मिलकर इंद्र को, जो महान शासक हैं, अपने यज्ञों और सामाजिक व्यवस्था को सुचारू रूप से चलाने के लिए धारण करें।
Chapter 20 · Verse 1796
यद् इन्द्र यावतस् त्वमेतावद् अहम् ईशीय. स्तोतारम् इद् दधिषे रदावसो न पापत्वाय रंसिषम्
Stotåram id dadhi¶e radåvaso na påpatvåya ra≈si¶am. Indra, lord ruler of the world, giver of wealth and excellence, as much as you grant, so much I wish I should control and rule. I would hold it only to support the devotees of divinity and would not spend it away for those who indulge in sin and evil.
हे इन्द्र, हे धनवान, जितना आप देते हैं, उतना ही मैं भी प्राप्त करूँ, जिससे मैं भक्तों का पोषण कर सकूँ, पापियों का नहीं।
Chapter 20 · Verse 1798
›रुधी हवं विपिपानस्याद्रेर् बोधा विप्र- स्यार्चतो मनीषाम्. कृष्वा दुवाँन्स्यन्तमा सचेमा
Listen to the cloud shower of exhortation from know the thought and will of the wise scholar in adoration of your honour, and honour these prayers, most sincere and intimate, in action.
हे विद्वान! आपकी स्तुति करने वाले ज्ञानी के विचारों और इच्छाओं को सुनें, और इन प्रार्थनाओं को स्वीकार करें, जो अत्यंत सच्ची और अंतरंग हैं, और उन्हें कर्म में लाएं।
Chapter 20 · Verse 1799
न ते गिरो अपि मृष्ये तुरस्य न सुष्ंउतिम् असुर्- यस्य विद्वान्. सदा ते नाम स्वयशो विवक्मि
Never shall I forget your words, instant and mighty of action as you are, nor shall I, knowing your power and potential, ever neglect your appreciation and adoration. I value and appreciate the significance of your name and your innate honour and excellence.
हे शक्तिशाली प्रभु, मैं आपके वचनों को कभी नहीं भूलूंगा, और आपके सामर्थ्य को जानकर आपकी स्तुति का भी उपेक्षा नहीं करूंगा; मैं सदा आपके स्वयंभू नाम का ही गान करूंगा।
Chapter 20 · Verse 1800
भ्ञुरि हि ते सवना मानुषेषु भ्ञुरि मनीषी हवते त्वाम् इत्. मारे अस्मन् मघव¤ज्योक् कः
O lord of honour and excellence, many are your acts of generosity and magnificence in the world of humanity. Many are the acts of adoration the dedicated wise offer to you. O lord, never let these be alienated from us.
हे ऐश्वर्यवान प्रभु, मनुष्यों में आपकी उदारता और महिमा अनगिनत है, और ज्ञानी जन आपकी स्तुति करते हैं। हे इंद्र, हमें कभी भी इन (कृपाओं) से दूर न करें।
Chapter 20 · Verse 1801
प्रो ष्वस्मै पुरोरथम् इन्द्राय श्ञुषम् अर्चत. अभीके चिदु लोककृत् सΔगे समत्सु वृत्रहा. अस्माकम् बोधि चोदिता नभन्ताम् अन्यकेषां ज्याका अधि धन्वसु
Abh∂ke cidu lokakæt saΔge samatsu vætrahå. Asmåkam bodhi coditå nabhantåm anyake¶å≈ jyåkå adhi dhanvasu. Offer a song of abundant praise in honour of this ruling lord Indra for his mighty force and front rank chariot. He, destroyer of darkness and evil, inspires us in our battles of life at the closest and enlightens us in our struggle for universal freedom. Let the strings of the alien enemy bows be snapped by the strike of the forces of Indra.
हे इन्द्र देव, अपनी महान शक्ति और अग्रिम रथ के लिए हम आपकी स्तुति करते हैं; आप अंधकार और बुराई के विनाशक हैं, जो हमें जीवन के युद्धों में प्रेरित करते हैं।
Chapter 20 · Verse 1802
त्वं सिन्ध्ञुँन्रवासृजोइ᳓धराचो अहन्नहिम्. असत्रुर् इन्द्र जज्¤इषे विश्वं पुष्यसि वार्यम्. तं त्वा परि ष्वजामहे नभन्ताम् अन्यकेषाम् ज्याका अधि धन्वसु
Asatrur indra jaj¤i¶e vi‹va≈ pu¶yasi våryam. Ta≈ två pari ¶vajåmahe nabhantåm anyake¶åm jyåkå adhi dhanvasu. Indra, you release the floods of rivers to flow down on the earth. You destroy the demon of darkness, evil, want and ignorance. You are born without an equal, adversary and enemy, and you promote the choicest wealth and excellence of the world. Such as you are we love and embrace you as our closest loving friend and companion. Let the alien strings of the enemy bows snap upon their bows.
हे इन्द्र, आप नदियों के प्रवाह को पृथ्वी पर प्रवाहित करते हैं, अंधकार, बुराई, अभाव और अज्ञान के शत्रु का नाश करते हैं।
Chapter 20 · Verse 1803
वि षु विश्वा अरातयोइ᳓र्यो नशन्त नो धियः. अस्तासि शत्रवे वधं, यो न इन्द्र जिघाँन्सति. य ते रातिर् ददिर् वसु नभन्ताम् अन्यकेषां ज्याका अधि धन्वसु
Aståsi ‹atrave vadha≈, yo na indra jighå~nsati. Ya te råtir dadir vasu nabhantåm anyake¶å≈ jyåkå adhi dhanvasu. Indra, may the facts and forces of enmity, adversity and ungenerosity be eliminated from life and the world. May all our thoughts and actions be inspired by love and generosity. You strike the thunderbolt of justice and punishment upon the enemy who wants to destroy us or frustrate our love and generosity. May your grace and generosity bring us wealth, honour and excellence of life. Let the strings of enemy bows snap by the tension of their own negativities.
हे इन्द्र, जो शत्रु हमें मारना चाहते हैं, उनकी शक्ति नष्ट हो जाए और हमारी बुद्धि में कोई बाधा न आए।
Chapter 20 · Verse 1804
रेवाँन् इद् रेवत स्तोता स्यात् त्वावतो मघोनः. प्रेदु हरिवः सुतस्य
Predu hariva¨ sutasya. Indra, master and commander of dynamic forces, may the celebrant of the brilliant, bountiful and renowned like you be brilliant, prosperous and celebrated. That is but natural.
हे इन्द्र, धनवानों के धनवान, स्तुति करने वाले को भी धनवान, यशस्वी और ऐश्वर्यवान बनाओ।
Chapter 20 · Verse 1805
उक्थम् च न शस्यमानं नागो रयिरा चिकेत. न गायत्रं गीयमानम्
Na gåyatra≈ g∂yamånam. Indra, lord of power and piety, the man attached to divinity in faith and opposed to doubt and disloyalty knows the words of praise spoken by a man of doubtful faith as much as he knows the songs of adoration sung by a man of faith (and makes a distinction between the two).
हे इन्द्र, जो श्रद्धावान् और संशय रहित है, वह स्तुति और गान को उसी प्रकार जानता है जैसे कोई नाग धन को जानता है।
Chapter 20 · Verse 1807
एन्द्र याहि हरिभिर् उप कण्वस्य सुष्ंउतिम्. दिवो अमुष्य शासतो दिवं यय दिवा-वसो
Divo amu¶ya ‹åsato diva≈ yaya divå-vaso. Indra, ruler of the world, come with all your powers and perceptions to the sage's adoration and instruction, and from the light and exhortation of the elevating sage, O seeker of enlightenment, go and rise to the heights of divinity.
हे इन्द्र, अपने अश्वों के साथ ऋषि की स्तुति और उपदेश के लिए शीघ्र पधारें।
Chapter 20 · Verse 1808
अत्रा वि नेमिर् एषाम् उरां न ध्ञुनुते वृकः. दिवो अमुष्य शासतो दिवम् यय दिवावसो
Divo amu¶ya ‹åsato divam yaya divåvaso. Here the very edge and foundation of these sages of knowledge and wisdom would shake you and reveal you to yourself as thunder shakes the earth and lightning lights it up all over. And then from the light and thunder of these commanders you would rise, liberated, to your own heights of heaven, O lover and ruler of the light of day.
यहाँ ऋषियों के ज्ञान और विवेक की जड़ें भी आपको हिलाकर स्वयं को प्रकट कर देंगी, जैसे गर्जना पृथ्वी को कंपाती है और बिजली उसे प्रकाशित करती है।
Chapter 20 · Verse 1809
Å त्वा ग्रावा वदन्न् इह सोमी घोषेण वक्षतु. दिवो अमुष्य शासतो दिवं यय दिवावसो
The maker of soma, creator of the joy of a new life, would welcome you here with a loud proclamation and exalt you with the voice of thunder, and from the light and power of the sage's revelation, O lover of light, go and rise to your own essential heaven of freedom.
हे प्रकाशप्रिय! स्वर्ग के स्वामी, स्वर्ग के निर्माता, स्वर्ग में स्थित होकर, स्वर्ग की ओर ले चलें।
Chapter 20 · Verse 1810
पवस्व सोम मन्दयन्न् इन्द्राय मधु- मत्तमः
O Soma, creative spirit, highest honey sweet of divine ecstasy, flow abundant, pure and purifying, energising and rejoicing for Indra, the divine soul.
हे सोम, हे दिव्य आनंद के मधुरतम रस, इंद्र के लिए प्रचुर मात्रा में प्रवाहित हो।

ते सुतासो विपश्चितः शुक्रा वायुम् असृक्षत
Your creative spirits of imagination, powerful and most ecstatic, give birth to the vibrant poet creator, the karma yogi of imagination.
हे प्रभु, आपकी तेजस्वी और ज्ञानवान आत्माएं कल्पना के जीवंत कवि को जन्म देती हैं।
Chapter 20 · Verse 1812
असृग्रं देववीतये वाजयन्तो रथा इव
Flowing and creating, Soma streams rush forward like victor chariots in the service of divinity.
हे सोम! देवों की सेवा के लिए विजयी रथों के समान प्रवाहित होते हुए, तुम शक्ति प्रदान करते हो।

स हि पुर्ञु चिदोजसा विरुक्मता दीद्यानो भवति द्रुहन्तरः परशुर् न द्रुहन्तरः. वीडु चिद् यस्य समृतौ श्रुवद् वनेव यत् स्थिरम्. निष्षहमाणो यमते नायते धन्वासहा नायते
Ni¶¶ahamåƒo yamate nåyate dhanvåsahå nåyate. He surely rises to shine very brilliantly with his own splendid valour and honour who, like the axe which cuts down the trees, mows down the enemies, in whose presence even the strong and firm like the dense forest burst asunder into pieces, and who, commanding brave warriors, dominates and directs the enemies and, like a mighty wielder of the bow and arrow, never wavers but advances in battle against the enemy forces.
वह तेजस्वी, पराक्रमी पुरुष अपने बल से शत्रुओं का नाश करता है, जिसके सामने घने वन की भांति दृढ़ वस्तुएं भी खंडित हो जाती हैं।

अग्ने तव श्रवो वयो महि भ्राजन्ते अर्चयो विभावसो. बृहद्भानो शवसा वाजम् उक्थ्यां दधासि दाशुषे कवे
Agni, leading light of life, great is your vigour, power and felicity, shining, inspiring and incessantly flowing. O refulgent lord, your flames rise high and blaze fiercely. Light and fire of Infinity, omniscient poet and creator, by your power, potential and abundance, you bear and bring admirable food, energy and fulfilment with the sense of victory for the generous giver and selfless yajaka.
हे अग्निदेव, आपकी दीप्तिमान किरणें महान हैं, हे तेजस्वी, आप यज्ञकर्ता को शक्ति और अन्न प्रदान करते हैं।

पावकवर्चाः शुक्रवर्चा अन्ञुनवर्चा उद् इयर्षि भानुना. पुत्रो मातरा विचरन्न् उपावसि पृणक्षि रोदसी उभे
Lord of flames of purity, master of immaculate light and power absolutely free from want and weakness, you rise with self-refulgence and, just as the son closely abides by the parents, serves and protects them, so do you pervade, sustain and protect the heaven and earth.
हे पवित्र तेज वाले, शुद्ध प्रकाश और निर्बाध शक्ति के स्वामी, आप स्वयं प्रकाशित होकर उदय होते हैं और पुत्र के समान माता-पिता की सेवा और रक्षा करते हुए, स्वर्ग और पृथ्वी को व्याप्त करते, उनका पोषण करते और उनकी रक्षा करते हैं।

O divine light and fire of life, child as well as protector and sustainer of energy pervasive in the entire world of existence, rise and rejoice as well as exhilarate us, with hymns and noble thoughts and actions as you are invoked and kindled in the vedi and in the heart and soul. Faithful celebrants bring you food in homage, and in you they vest their desires and aspirations of various forms and wondrous efficacy arisen from love of the heart and soul.
हे ऊर्जा के रक्षक जातवेद (अग्नि), स्तुतियों और उत्तम कर्मों से प्रसन्न होइए, क्योंकि आप ही सभी प्रकार की ऐश्वर्य और शक्ति के दाता हैं।

इष्कर्तारम् अध्वरस्य प्रचेतसं क्षयन्तं राधसो महः. रातिं वामस्य सुभगां महीम् इषं दधासि सानसिं रयिम्
Agni, lord, spirit, and power of the light and fire of life, we celebrate and adore you, inspirer, impeller and promoter of holy yajna of love and non-violence, omniscient treasure giver and controller of the great world's wealth, who bear and bring us abundant gifts of beauty and splendour and the good fortune of life, high energy and food, plenty and prosperity, indeed all wealth, honour and excellence of life.
हे यज्ञ के स्वामी, हे प्रज्ञावान, हे धन के क्षयकर्ता, हे महान ऐश्वर्य की दात्री, आप हमें शक्ति, समृद्धि और सौंदर्य प्रदान करते हैं।

प्र सो अग्ने तवोतिभिः सुवीराभिस् तरति वाज कर्मभिः. यस्य त्वं सख्यम् आविथ
Agni, lord of universal love and friendship, he whose love and friendship, devotion and dedication, you accept into your kind care thrives under your protection and promotion and advances in life with noble and heroic progeny, moving from victory to glory.
हे अग्निदेव, आपकी रक्षा और मित्रता से युक्त होकर, जो आपके सत्कार्य को स्वीकार करता है, वह आपकी कृपा से विजय प्राप्त करता है और महान कर्मों से आगे बढ़ता है।

Agni, giver of the showers of joy in life, the world of your creation flows on like drops of soma from the press, colourful, crackling voluble, exciting and fresh through the seasons, bright and beautiful, passionately lovable. You are darling of the glory of dawns and you shine ever in the glimmerings of the dusk and reflect in the ripples of water.
हे अग्निदेव, आप जीवन के आनंद की वर्षा करने वाले हैं, आपकी महिमा से यह संसार सोम की बूंदों की तरह प्रवाहित होता है, जो रंगीन, जीवंत और प्रिय है। आप भोर की महिमा के प्रिय हैं और सभी लोकों में प्रकाशमान हैं।

तम् ओषधीर् दधिरे गर्भम् ऋत्वियं तम् आपो अग्निं जनयन्त मातरः. तम् इत् समानं वनिनश्च वीरुधोइ᳓न्तर्वतीश्च सुवते च विश्वहा
That Agni, energy, the herbs and waters receive into them and they bear it as mothers, producing it on maturity as nourishment and energy for life forms. The same Agni, the herbs and trees of the forest receive equally, hold it in the womb and always produce it as the embodiment of energy.
हे भगवन, औषधियाँ और जल आपको अपने गर्भ में धारण करते हैं, जैसे माताएँ अपने शिशु को। वे ही आपको उत्पन्न करते हैं, जो जीवन के लिए ऊर्जा और पोषण का स्रोत है। सभी वनस्पति और वृक्ष भी आपको समान रूप से धारण कर, ऊर्जा के रूप में प्रकट करते हैं।

Mahi¶∂va vi jåyate. Agni, fire of yajna and light of the sun, indeed all light and energy of existence, rises, radiates and shines pure and powerful in honour and adoration of Indra, lord omnipotent, unto the heavens. It rises and shines on and on anew in space-time continuum as the ruling power of the omnipotent.
अग्नि, जो इन्द्र के लिए पवित्रा होता है, स्वर्ग में दीप्तिमान होकर चमकता है।

यो जागार तम् ऋचः कामयन्ते यो जागार तमु सामानि यन्ति. यो जागार तम् अयं सोम आह तवाहम् अस्मि सख्ये न्योकाः
Whoever is awake, the Rks love and bless. Whoever is alert, the Samans move and elevate. Whoever is active without a wink of sleep, this Soma of life's joy and ecstasy addresses and says: O seeker wide awake, I am for you, a friend and shelter home.
जो जागता है, उसे ऋचाएँ प्रिय होती हैं और सामगान भी उसी के पास आते हैं; जो सचेत है, उसे सोम रस (जीवन का आनंद) कहता है कि हे मित्र, मैं तुम्हारा हूँ।

अग्निर् जागार तं ऋचः कामयन्तेइ᳓ग्निर् जागार तम् उ सामानि यन्ति. अग्निर् जागार तम् अयं सोम आह तवाहम् अस्मि सख्ये न्योकाः
To Agni, soul of life awake, the light of Rks radiates with love. To Agni, light of life awake, the songs of Samans vibrate with love. To Agni, the fire of life aflame, the streams of nectar flow with love, and to the soul of life, the light of awareness and the fire of action, the ecstasy of life says: I am yours with love, a friend, your very haven and home.
हे अग्निदेव, आप जागृत हैं, ऋचाएं आपसे प्रेम करती हैं, सामगान आपके पास आते हैं, और सोम रस भी कहता है कि मैं आपकी मित्रता में ही स्थित हूँ।

नमः सखिभ्यः प्ञुर्व-सद्भ्यो नमः साकं निषेभ्यः. यु¤जे वाचं शत-पदीम्
Salutations to friends who have been sitting on the vedi earlier. Salutations to those who come now and sit around. Salutations again and again a hundred times, no end.
पूर्व बैठे हुए मित्रों को नमस्कार है, और अब बैठने वालों को भी नमस्कार है। मैं वाणी को सौ-पैर वाली (असंख्य) जोड़ता हूँ।

यु¤जे वाचं शतपदीं गाये सहस्रवर्त्तनि. गायत्रं त्रैष्ंउभं जगत्
Gåyatra≈ trai¶¢ubha≈ jagat. I use language of hundred variations of phrase, sing a thousand versions and variations of Gayatri, Trishtup and Jagati metres of verse in song.
मैं सौ प्रकार के शब्दों का प्रयोग करता हूँ, और गायत्री, त्रिष्टुप और जगती छंदों के सहस्रों रूपों का गान करता हूँ।

अग्निर् ज्योतिर् ज्योतिर् अग्निर् इन्द्रो ज्योतिर् ज्योतिर् इन्द्रः. स्ञुर्यो ज्योतिर् ज्योतिः स्ञुर्यः
Agni is fire, fire is Agni, both are one and the same. Indra, lightning, is light energy, lightning energy is Indra, both are one and the same. Sun is light and light is the sun, both are one and the same. The master and the master's potential, name and expression are one, the same, inseparable.
अग्नि ही प्रकाश है और प्रकाश ही अग्नि है। इंद्र (बिजली) ही प्रकाश है और प्रकाश ही इंद्र है। सूर्य ही प्रकाश है और प्रकाश ही सूर्य है।

पुनर् ञुर्जा नि वर्त्तस्व पुनर् अग्न इषायुषा. पुनर् नः पाह्यँन्हसः
Punar na¨ påhya~nhasa¨. Agni, come energy, again and again in cycle and recycle, come again and again with energy, life and good health, no end. Save us from sin, purify us from sin and evil, again and again. The cycle must go on.
हे अग्नि, पुनः ऊर्जा से युक्त होकर, जीवन और स्वास्थ्य के साथ बार-बार लौट आओ, हमें पाप से बचाओ।

सह रय्या नि वर्तस्वाग्ने पिन्वस्व धारया. विश्वप्स्न्या विश्वतस् परि
Vi‹vapsnyå vi‹vatas pari. Come, visit, revisit again and again with wealth, honour, excellence and grace, with the universal flow of wealth, honour and excellence of health, age and divinity of the highest of existence, bless us, no end.
हे अग्निदेव, धन-ऐश्वर्य और तेज के साथ पुनः लौटें, अपनी धारा से हमें परिपूर्ण करें।
Chapter 20 · Verse 1834
यद् इन्द्राहं यथा त्वम् ईशीय वस्व एक इत्. स्तोता मे गोसखा स्यात्
Stotå me gosakhå syåt. Indra, lord of universal knowledge, power and prosperity, if I were, like you, the sole master of wealth, wisdom and power in my field, then pray may my dependent and celebrant also be blest with wealth and wisdom of the world. (Let all of us together be blest with abundance of wealth and wisdom under the social dispensation of our system of government and administration.)
हे इन्द्र, यदि मैं भी तुम्हारी तरह धन, ज्ञान और शक्ति का एकमात्र स्वामी होता, तो मेरे आश्रित और स्तुति करने वाले भी धन और ज्ञान से युक्त होते।

सिक्षेयम् अस्मै दित्सेयं शचीपते मनीषिणे. यद् अहं गोपतिः स्याम्
Yad aha≈ gopati¨ syåm. O lord and master of world power and prosperity, Indra, if I were master of knowledge and controller of power, I would love to share and give wealth and knowledge to this noble minded person of vision and wisdom.
हे ऐश्वर्य और शक्ति के स्वामी इंद्र! यदि मैं ज्ञान और शक्ति का स्वामी होता, तो इस ज्ञानी और दूरदर्शी व्यक्ति को धन और ज्ञान का दान करता।

धेनुष्ंअ इन्द्र स्ञुनृता यजमानाय सुन्वते. गाम् अश्वं पिप्युषी दुहे
Gåm a‹va≈ pipyu¶∂ duhe. Indra, the divine voice of your omniscience, omnipotence and bliss overflows with universal truth and rectitude of the law of existence and showers the abundance of prosperity and advancement upon the dedicated yajamana who distils and creates the soma of joy for the world.
हे इन्द्र, जो यजमान जगत के लिए आनंद का सोम उत्पन्न करता है, उसे आप अपनी सर्वज्ञता, सर्वशक्तिमत्ता और आनंद से सत्य और न्याय की प्रचुरता से परिपूर्ण करते हैं।

Åपो हि ष्ंहा मयो-भुवस् ता न ञुर्जे दधातन. महे रणाय चक्षसे
Mahe raƒåya cak¶ase. Apah, liquid energies of cosmic space, surely you are creators and givers of peace and joy. Pray inspire and energise us for the achievement of food and energy for body, mind and soul so that we may see and enjoy the mighty splendour of divinity.
हे जल देवता, आप कल्याणकारी और आनंददायक हैं, हमें शक्ति और पोषण प्रदान करें।

यो वः शिवतमो रसस् तस्य भाजयतेह नः. उशतीर् इव मातरः
U‹at∂r iva måtara¨. Let us share here in body that nectar sweet taste of yours which is most blissful, be like loving mothers for their children.
हे परमेश्वर, आपके उस परम आनंदमय रस का हम यहाँ सेवन करें, जैसे माताएँ अपने पुत्रों का पोषण करती हैं।
Chapter 20 · Verse 1839
तस्मा अरं गमाम वो यस्य क्षयाय जिन्वथ. Åपो जनयथा च नः
O holy waters, lovers of peace and pleasure of bliss, we come to you without delay for that pleasure, peace and enlightenment for the promotion and stability of which you move and impel people and powers and invigorate us too. Pray bless us with vigour and vitality.
हे पवित्र जल, हम आपके आनंद और पोषण के लिए शीघ्रता से आपके पास आते हैं, जो हमें बल और जीवन शक्ति प्रदान करते हैं।

उत वात पितासि न उत भ्रातोत नः सखा. स नो जीवातवे कृधि
Sa no j∂våtave kædhi. O wind of life energy, you are our fatherly protector and promoter, our brother, our friend. Pray strengthen and inspire us to live a full life.
हे प्राणवायु, आप हमारे पिता, भाई और मित्र हैं, हमें जीवन जीने के लिए बल और प्रेरणा प्रदान करें।
Chapter 20 · Verse 1842
यद् अदो वात ते गृहेइ᳓मृतम् निहितं गुहा. तस्य नो धेहि जीवसे
Tasya no dhehi j∂vase. In your treasure home of inviolable energy, O breath of life energy, Vayu, there is immortal wealth hidden for us. Of that, from that, give us some, our share, so that we may live a full life of good health and joy.
हे प्राणशक्ति, आपके अक्षय भंडार में छिपी हुई अमर संपत्ति से हमें कुछ अंश प्रदान करें, जिससे हम पूर्ण स्वस्थ और आनंदमय जीवन जी सकें।

अभि वाजी विश्वर्ञुपो जनित्रं हिरण्ययं बिभ्रदत्कं सुपर्णः. स्ञुर्यस्य भानुम् ऋतुथा वसानः परि स्वयं मेधम् ऋज्रो जजान
jajåna. The potent, non-stop, procreative, all-form eagle- bird of life, bearing its own golden generative principle and form, wearing light of the sun, itself emerges according to the time and season of karma and creates its own yajnic form of existence.
यह सर्वव्यापी, तेजस्वी, स्वर्णमय, जीवन-रूप पक्षी, सूर्य के प्रकाश को धारण करते हुए, कर्म के अनुसार उत्पन्न होता है और अपने यज्ञमय स्वरूप को प्रकट करता है।

अप्सु रेतः शिश्रिये विश्वर्ञुपं तेजः पृथिव्याम् अधि यत् सम्बभ्ञुव. अन्तरिक्षे स्वं महिमानं मिमानः कनिक्रन्ति वृष्णो अश्वस्य रेतः
The seed of life lay in the waters, universal form, light and lustre of being which emerged on the earth. It established its own potential and power in the firmament. Thus does the seed of potent life raise and realize its voice and will to be in existence (bearing light of sun, lying in space, spatial waters, the oceans, in the firmament and on the earth).
जल में जीवन का बीज था, जो पृथ्वी पर विश्वरूप तेज के रूप में प्रकट हुआ। अंतरिक्ष में अपनी महिमा स्थापित करते हुए, यह शक्तिशाली जीवन का बीज अस्तित्व में अपनी इच्छा और प्रकाश को साकार करता है।

अयं सहस्रा परि युक्ता वसानः स्ञुर्यस्य भानुं यज्¤ओ दाधार. सहस्रदाः शतदा भ्ञुरि-दावा धर्ता दिवो भुवनस्य विश्पतिः
This Agni, self-refulgent light and life of the existence, pervading infinite forms in union with it, meditation, bears and sustains the light of the sun. It is a giver, thousandfold, hundredfold, infinite. It is the sustainer of heavens, the entire universe, and it is the master, fatherly ruler and promoter of the people of the world.
यह अग्नि, अनंत रूपों में व्याप्त, सूर्य के प्रकाश को धारण करती है। यह सहस्रों, शतकों और अनगिनत दाताओं में, स्वर्ग और भुवन का धारणकर्ता, स्वामी है।
Chapter 20 · Verse 1846
नाके सुपर्णम् उप यत् पतन्तं हृदा वेनन्तो अभ्यचक्षत त्वा. हिरण्य-पक्षं वरुणस्य द्ञुतं यमस्य योनौ शकुनं भुरण्युम्
O Sun, wrapped in wondrous rays flying around in the highest heaven, loving sages with their heart and soul see and realise you at the closest as a messenger of the supreme lord of love and justice and as a mighty bird blazing and flying with golden wings in the vast space of the lord ordainer of the universe.
हे सूर्य, अपने तेजस्वी पंखों से युक्त, तुम यम के लोक में एक अद्भुत पक्षी के समान हो, जिसे ज्ञानीजन अपने हृदय से देखते हैं।
Chapter 20 · Verse 1847
ªउर्द्ध्वो गन्धर्वो अधि नाके अस्थात् प्रत्यΔ चित्रा बिभ्रदस्यायुधानि. वसानो अत्कं सुरभिं दृशे कं स्वार्ण नाम जनत प्रियाणि
High up over there abides the sun in the region of heavenly light. It bears wondrous weapons of divinity such as thunder and lightning. It wears a beautiful, fragrant form soothing for people to see, and like the light and bliss of heaven creates divine waters and many other dear divine gifts for life.
वह सूर्य, जो दिव्य प्रकाश में स्थित है, अद्भुत अस्त्रों को धारण करता है, सुंदर और सुगंधित रूप से सुशोभित है, और स्वर्ग के प्रकाश और आनंद के समान, प्रिय दिव्य जल और अन्य उपहार उत्पन्न करता है।

द्रप्सः समुद्रम् अभि यज्जिगाति पश्यन् गृध्रस्य चक्षसा विधर्मन्. भानुः शुक्रेण शोचिषा चकानस् तृतीये चक्रे रजसि प्रियानि
When the sun in the third, highest, heaven, shining on the oceans and vapours in the skies with the light of its fervent rays reaches the clouds of vapour, then the blazing heat with pure and powerful energy catalyses the clouds and condenses the vapours into dear valuable drops that shower in rain upon the earth.
सूर्य की तेजस्वी किरणें समुद्र और वाष्प को देखकर, अपनी शुद्ध और शक्तिशाली ऊर्जा से बादलों को संघनित कर मूल्यवान वर्षा की बूँदें बरसाती हैं।

Åशुः शिशानो वृषभो न भिमो घना-घनः क्षोभणश् चर्षणीनाम्. सΔक्रन्दनोइ᳓निमिष एक-वीरः शतं सेना अजयत् साकम् इन्द्रः
Instantly swift, sharp as a lazer beam, terrible like a bull, breaker of the darkest cloud, shaker of mighty men, roaring awful without a wink, sole hero without a second, Indra overthrows a hundred armies together at once.
हे इन्द्र, आप शीघ्रगामी, भयंकर, गर्जना करने वाले, पलक झपकाए बिना सौ सेनाओं को एक साथ जीतने वाले अकेले वीर हैं।

सΔक्रन्दनेनानिमिषेण जिष्णुना युत्कारेण दुश्च्यवनेन धृष्णुना. तद् इन्द्रेण जयत तत् सहध्वम् युधो नर इषुहस्तेन वृष्णा
O warriors, leading lights of heroes, take up that challenge of antilife forces, fight that war and win with Indra, roaring and terrifying the enemy forces, relentless fighter, ambitious for victory, expert tactician, unshakable, irresistible, generous and brave, and armed with unfailing missiles for victory.
हे वीर योद्धाओं, इंद्र के साथ मिलकर विजय प्राप्त करो, जो अजेय, पराक्रमी और अचूक शस्त्रों से सुसज्जित हैं।

स इषु-हस्तैः स निषΔगिभिर् वशी संस्रष्ंआ स युध इन्द्रो गणेन. सं सृष्ंअजित् सोमपा बाहुशर्ध्य्ञुýग्रधन्वा प्रतिहिताभिर् अस्ता
Indra is the warrior with bow and arrows in hand, conquers with joint armed forces, multiple enemy hosts, and wins over concentrated forces. Protector and promoter of soma peace and joy of life, strong of arms wielding a terrible bow, he throws out the enemies with the shots of his unfailing arrows.
हे इन्द्र, तुम धनुष-बाण धारण करने वाले, अनेक योद्धाओं से युक्त, शत्रुओं की सेनाओं को पराजित करने वाले, सोमपान करने वाले और शक्तिशाली धनुष से अचूक बाणों द्वारा शत्रुओं को दूर भगाने वाले हो।
Chapter 20 · Verse 1852
बृहस्पते परि दीया रथेन रक्षोहामित्राँन् अपबाधमानः. प्रभ¤जन्त् सेनाः प्र मृणो युधा जयन्न् अस्माकम् एध्यविता रथानाम्
Fly by the chariot, Brhaspati, destroyer of demons, repeller of enemies, breaking through and routing their forces. Fighting and conquering by battle, come, defend and save our chariots of the social order.
हे बृहस्पति, रथ पर आरूढ़ होकर, राक्षसों का नाश करते हुए और शत्रुओं को दूर भगाते हुए, हमारी सेनाओं को विजय दिलाएं और हमारे रथों के रक्षक बनें।
